‘Keeper to be given chance against Finland

May 24th, 2006 | By: Jon | No Comments »

Former Arsenal ‘keeper Rami Shaaban will make his international debut against Finland on Thursday in a friendly. Shaaban, who currently plays in neighboring Norway, replaces Andreas Isaksson who injured himself in training on Wednesday.

Shaaban now has a superb chance to show that he’s the number 2 ‘keeper if Isaksson suffers a similar fate in Germany.

Personally, I think Shaaban is more than capable of replacing Isaksson. He proved at Arsenal that he could step into the Champions League and played superbly. It was an unlucky injury that wrecked his chances of staking a claim for the number one jersey at Arsenal.

Isaksson’s injury is not likely to keep him sidelined for long.
