Larsson: “I’ve made the decision”

March 23rd, 2006 | By: Nicke | 3 Comments »

It has been lots of speculation if Henrik Larsson would change his mind and stay another season in Barca instead of returning home to Sweden. Larsson has scored in five consecutive league games and a campaign has started in a newspaper in Barcelona to convince Larsson to stay another season.

At his home page a fan asked if he had second thoughts due to recent success and he answered; “I’ve always said that I would not want to live a life with regrets. I’ve made the decision to go back to Sweden and I’m happy to stick to it. It’s really important that once you make your mind up about something to then draw a line under it. I believe this is the right time for me and my family to return to our home country and I’m looking forward to the new challenge.”

Hi Nicke- Are all Swedish football fans excited about his return, or just fans of the clubs where he might play? Relatedly, do most fans consider him the best Swedish player ever?
Thanks, Trent

Henrik Larsson won “Tidernas Guldboll” the “the golden ball of alltimes”, but I don’t think he’s widely considered as the best swedish player of all times. But he’s one of them.
The return of Henrik Larsson excites all of Swedens football fans, including the fans of the opposing teams. He’ll be a blockbuster for the Allsvenskan the coming season.

Sweden had some players that dominated in Italian League during the 50’s that I rank higher then Larsson. But it is very hard to compare players from so different times.
