Nilsson Insted of Our Achilles’ heel
This weekend can be crucial whether Sweden have a chance to go far in the world cup. Our Achilles’ heel is Alexander Östlund and until now there has not been any alternatives but this weekend will Mikael Nilsson make a comeback in Panathinaikos and every Swedish fan cross their fingers that he will be the answer at our prays. If Mikael Nilsson fails to impress I think it would be a better idea to play with 42 year old legend Roland Nilsson who made some games for GAIS last year.

So, his comeback was delayed for a week and today he was only subbed for the last 3 minutes, but he is not a natural defender anyway. An alternative would be really helpful in my opinion. I’d know someone for the left side, but is the right (side)really lacking?

I agree, he is not a natural defender, but a much better defender then Östlund who definately is not a natural defender. Christoffer Andersson who will move to Hannover is a good alternative.

I heard about Andersson’s move; can’t wait to see another swede in the Bundesliga. Unfortunately I haven’t seen him play yet, so I won’t judge. From what I’ve read on Southampton FC pages, Östlund did a great job for them so far and he is not as affraid of tacles like Nilsson seems to be. On the other side, Nilsson did well against Ronaldhino in the CL… I hope he will get a place in the WC Squad!

I hope that Östlund can develop to a decent defender in Southampton, so far it seem as he is improving.
What do you think about Fredrik Stenman in Leverkusen? He might be in the Swedish squad as a back up for left back Erik Edman, Rennes.

I saw Stenman play some weeks ago and again last weekend and he did pretty good i think. He adapted quite well already and his passes were neat, he even assisted a goal (i think that was in his 2nd game). Some people of a Leverkusen forum aren’t too fond of him yet, but say, if he gets into the german game more, he will be very helpful for the club. I’ll have an eye on him and can keep you updated, if you want.
