Only Zlatan Ibrahimovic left

Yesterday’s Champions League games meant that Lyon got defeated by the football superpower Manchester United. It also meant that one of two Swede’s left in the Champions League got beat out of the tournament. Lyon midfielder Kim Källström didn’t have a very good day and lost the midfield battle against the more experienced United-players. Källström was subbed with fifteen minutes to go and didn’t get any closer Anders Svensson in the fight of the role as attacking midfielder in the national team.

If Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Inter manages to turn around Liverpool’s 2-0 win from February, we’ll actually have Swedish representation in the quarter finales as well. However, if Ibrahimovic can’t make it, it would be the first quarter finals in many years to completely lack Swedes. Of course, referee Peter Fröjdfeldt might still judge a game or two, but that’s not really the same thing…
