“Sweden are favourites” says ‘Keeper
Oh joy: Trinidad and Tobago goalkeeper Kelvin Jack thinks Sweden are favourites to win World Cup Group B – not England.
The former Dundee ‘keeper insists the greater team ethic of Sweden will triumph over Sven-Goran Eriksson’s squad.
“Everyone seems to be focused on England, but Sweden are, for me, the best team in our section,” Jack said. “They are favourites even though everyone in England seems to think they have the group won already. I can tell them right now they haven’t.”
He added: “Sweden have a superb record against England and in the likes of Henrik Larsson, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Freddie Ljungberg have players every bit as good as what the English have.
“As a team, the Swedes are more solid and don’t rely so heavily on individuals. They are the ones we all have to beat.”
I wonder how much Lars Lagerbäck paid him to say that? It’s pure genius. This is exactly the kind of thing that will boost Sweden’s confidence and worry the English.

I’m counting on it.
I love England. Being an American, I suppose the affinity comes naturally. I think that the EPL is the best league in the world right now. I love the tenacity and fighting spirit of the English; not to mention some pretty skillful players.
But, I also love the Nordic squads. I guess its the Norse heritage in my blood. I love the outgoing physicality (is that a word?) and desire to work as a team they possess; not to mention some pretty skillful players.
I think that Kelvin Jack has latched onto a good instinct this year.
I’m going to have a hard time of it June 20. One thing we can be assured of is a great match. It will be to win the group, and, believe me, neither one wants the fate of the second place team – Germany at home. (I’ve got to admit I’d prefer to see a Germany v England match.)

Excuse me if I’ve accidentally lumped Sweden in with Nordic squads. For me, Norway, Sweden, and Denmark are all Nordic teams.
But one or two of them might take exception to that.

Please note:
1. He’s Swedish
2. He’s a goalkeeper
3. He plays for a Scottish team

Funny sam, how the first sentence reads “Trinidad and Tobago keeper Kelvin Jack”, yet you label him a swede. And might i add, being a prolific football fan myself that the two previous international tournaments (WC2002 and EC2004) both saw sweden alotted in the group of death. 2002 saw sweden top the group ahead of England, argentina and nigeria. 2004 saw sweden top the group ahead of denmark, Italy and bulgaria. And another point, it’s been almost 30 years since england last beat the swedes. And another: Henke Larsson created bot of Barca’s late goals in the CL final against Arsenal, Zlatan Ibra won Juve player of the year in their scudetto year 2005. And Ljunberg, ahh, like music to ones ear.

Now now guys. Let’s not fall out over this! Seriously, it is going to be a tough group. England will struggle against a well organised Sweden, but I think Sweden will also struggle to find the net unless Henke and Zlatan are on form.
It’s just going to be a great contest no matter what.

Sweden v England, June 20, is definitely the best match of Group B, and I think, with the implications, one of the best matches of the Group Stage.
Of course, the next day, June 21, Netherlands plays Argentina, which also will be a great match.
The third of the 3 best matches, considering the potential implications on which teams advance, has got to be June 22, Czech Rep. v Italy.
Three days in a row, three great match-ups, three deciding matches.

As a completely unbiased England fan, I feel very strongly that Sweden will come second in the group.

Being a fan of the swedish team, I make an appeal to Lars Lagerbäck not start up with players who are not in form. I think he should have the courage to drop out Melberg, even though he is the captain because he has shown during the match against Chili that he is not the same player 4 years ago.
Lagerbäck should align players who want to play football. I am confident that we will make it to the Final.

im routing for england as im from england but liv in usa, i hope england will win and i have a feeling england will win or it will be a draw swedes dont underestimate england they hav a better team now dont degrudge them or be too easy or your gonna lose. we have players like rooney now hes kind of recovering form his injury and england actuaklly won trinidad you drawed with trinidad. i think its gonna be a tough game but im going for england i think it will be 1-0
