Swedes Keen to See their Team

If you are a fan of the Swedish national team, your odds of getting a ticket to the World Cup this summer are about the same as Norway and Sweden merging into one country again.

Swedish fans have applied for 304,000 World Cup tickets, a record for the country. With about a combined total of 13,000 tickets available for its three first round matches, many Swedes will have no choice but to watch their team from home.

It is worth noting that tickets to Sweden’s game against Paraguay were the most heavily requested followed by requests for the England game. Is this a sign perhaps that the Swedes don’t want to have anything to do with their compatriot, England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson, or do they think that Paraguay will be a more interesting match?
