The Pride of Sweden
There is one reason Sweden’s opposition in Group B should be worried: His name is Zlatan. Just in case Stevie Gerrard, Joe Cole, and David “He’s a big girl’s blouse” Beckham et al are watching, here’s a taster.

Of all the highlight videos I’ve seen on this site, I think this is one of my favourites because it doesn’t only show all the great goals Zlatan has scored but also the misses and set-up play he has created.
He is a big, strong lad who is good with the ball at his feet. And he battles. I loved the footage of him fighting for the ball at the corner flag against two defenders. He didn’t get anywhere but he never gave up trying to win possession. I don’t know if seasons in Italy has taught him to fall over whenever there is contact, but I hope not.
If he’s fit, he’s a major asset for Sweden and a major headache for defenders.

best thing is that he doesn’t take the lazy way out and fall over - he just keeps working - and he is VERY hard to knock over!
still think that England will win the group though - Rooney may have been the best player but the rest are still very very good.

I think the difference between England and Sweden is that England has a team of superb individuals whilst Sweden has a team.
I’m a massive fan of English league football but the national squad never delivers. Of course, I’m in danger of having my words come back and haunt me here but I can really see the England squad falling apart because of the pressure from the press and their inability to play as a cohesive unit. Sweden might not have world class players in every position, but our record over the years shows we’re a world class team.

Great footage of Zlatan, remarkable touch. I completely agree with Jon’s comments… on paper, England have a formidable squad, and are quite capable of winning the world cup - but in practice? No cohesion, no teamwork- I’m always left with the impression that they don’t train enough together, because they never really demonstrate any ‘inter-player’ understanding. World Cup 1st round should be interesting for me - half-English, half-Swedish… let’s see what happens.
