Ticket Fraud Exposed

February 10th, 2006 | By: Nicke | 1 Comment »

The Swedish Soccer Association, SvFF, reports that there has been several thousands fake applications for Swedish world cup tickets. Probably it is an attempt from a group of criminal persons that plan to sell the tickets on the black market. SvFF don’t now how many tickets that the league has managed to get their hands on.

For several years Swedish fans have asked SvFF to make a system where fans that follow Sweden through the preliminaries should be the first to get tickets for the championships. SvFF has consistently ignored these requests and can now blame themselves when criminals try to capitalize on the old system. Since everyone has an equal chance to buy tickets several fans who has followed Sweden for several years don’t receive tickets. These fans only chance is buy tickets on the black market at a high price; this makes it very lucrative to apply for tickets just to sell them on the black market.

SvFF should look at the English FA who has a system where fans who follow the team through the preliminaries get priority to the Championship tickets. A supporter organization called Camp Sweden have during the last years grown stronger and hopefully they can put enough pressure on SvFF so that these problems can be solved before Euro 2008 , but SvFF are known to turn a blind eye to problems their fans have.
