Sweden lose shocker 2-0 to the russians

I`m in total shock as sweden is now going home after a disappointing loss to russia. Russia dominated the match in every way. I can`t beleive we lost with all the talent we have. O well, we must look into the future and go for the 2010 world cup. We played well and dominated in the first two matches but got unlucky in the third. We were`nt ready and we were to confident with ourselves. We played to tie, not to win. In my opinion thats a no no. We must play to win

Sweden Vs Russia, Winner faces Netherlands in quarterfinals

Sweden vs Russia today on espn 2:45 et(20:45 euro). In order to advance to the quarterfinals we must at least tie. This will put us in a tiebreaker with russia which we would win due to our goal differential against them. Russia is playing to win,as thats the only way their going to advance. We must play solid defense and dominate the midfield as we did in our previous matches. Our fate is in our own hands. We decide our future and hopes. We must play smart and tactical. If we play the same as we did in our first two games, we should have no problem defeating russia. The lineup stays as is:

sweden lose last minute heart breaker

Spain scored first and dominated the pitch early on. However Sweden came back with a beauty of a goal by Zlatan to tie the game. Sweden then started to gain momentum and was able to control the match. Spain and Sweden played to an almost even second half. However a late ball thrown into the Swedes box was misplayed by the swedish defender and david villa slipped through and took the game winning shot in the 92rd minute. All I have to say is How. Sweden looked to win if not at least tie. One costly mistake and Sweden must win with russia to secure their spot in the quarter-finals. We played well and I beleive we won the match. We dominated the offensive side yet lacked in the defensive midfield side, where spain controlled much of the action. Its win or go home now as sweden take on russia wednesday 20:45 euro, 2:45 et.

So Sweden has a chance to book a place in to the next round with a victory over the spaniards today. Sweden dominated the first match, but I presume a more tougher game against Spain. Both teams have a chance to take themselves atop of the group with a victory. I personally think we should play a little more defensive style game, after what I saw in the Spain-Russia game. The lineup looks the same. The only player that won’t be playing, will be alexandersson still suffering from the calf injury from the greece game.

Sweden defeat defending euro champs Greece, 2-0

Sweden win 2-0 against Greece in their opening match for the euro. Sweden played well and dominated the game in almost every fashion. Zlatan Ibrahimovic started the scoring in 67th minute with a rocket of a shot past the greek goalie. About 5 minutes later petter hansson got a tight ball between the goalie and tapped the ball past Antonis Nikopolidis’s for a 2-0 sweden lead. Sweden dominated the midfield and played good defense. Sweden`s next game is wednesday at 20:45 euro time against spain. Sweden and spain are at the top of the group with 3 points each heading in to next week’s deathmatch.

With Zlatan Ibrahimovic we can do anything on offense. We must stay strong on defense if are to have any chance against the greeks. The match starts at 20:45 euro time (14:45 eastern time U.S or 2:45 on Espn 2

Markus Rosenberg injured

On today’s training Markus Rosenberg got badly injured in his knee. It’s not clear exactly what happened, but the doctors are going to scan his knee to see exactly whats wrong. Most likely, however, Markus will miss the tournament, which probably means Marcus Berg of Groningen will be called up replace him. Good for Marcus, bad for Markus.

On Monday, Sweden will play against Slovenia in a friendly. The most interesting thing about the game is to see whether Linderoth is fit enough to stay in the squad, or if they have to replace him with Kennedy Bakircioglu.

Sweden’s Euro 2008 squad confirmed: Henrik Larsson!

Earlier today Lars Lagerbäck revealed his squad for the Euro 2008 in Switzerland and Austria. And I bet that everyone got really happy when Lagerbäck revealed the last name; Henrik Larsson is back in Blueyellows for the first time since the World Cup 2006. Larsson was the only surprising name in the squad and this is most likely the last tournament for about ten players in the Swedish squad.

Eddie Gustafsson as third-choice keeper?

Rumours now circulate in Sweden that Eddie Gustafsson of FC Lyn might take the third keeper spot behind Andreas Isaksson and Rami Shaaban this summer. However, the normal third choice Johan Wiland have performed alright in Elfsborg during the first ten games of Allsvenskan.

In the summer of 2006, Eddie was cut in the last minute since his performances dipped in the Norwegian league. I suppose it would be fair in some way if he was able to grab the last keeper spot this time, since he won’t get many more chances at the age of 31.

However, I suspect that when Lagerbäck will pick his squad next week, Eddie will end up at home, as a replacement if any of the other keepers would get injured.
